Homeostasis & Pathology
What is the goal of the body?
Homeostasis.
What is Homeostasis?
Homeostasis is the body's ability to maintain a stable internal environment despite external changes. This process is essential for the proper functioning of the body's systems, including temperature regulation, blood pressure, and glucose levels. Without homeostasis, the body would be unable to function optimally and maintain health.
Why is it important?
If we understand when the body is working "normally," we can identify when it is not. This is what we call pathology. Any deviation from the "normal" indicates a condition in the body. That explains why there are so many diseases!
